Strategic Brief.....The Ship

Project Definition
The project goal is to redesign a site. This is the site which I am going to redesign it: http://www.theship.com.my/ . It is a food restaurant site. The restaurant has the “ship” decoration. Their theme is to let people get the feeling like have a dinner or lunch in ship. The main food they promote is the steak, because they describe that the ship restaurant with the reputation of serving The Best Steak in Town. The unique exterior of the restaurant is also the advantage for attracting people. Yet they are providing the ship environment concept, the site also should consistent to their impression. The site will providing the old ship mood, so the audience will realize they are enter “The Ship” site.

Current Site’s Analysis Goals
The site is going to provide the food list, information about the restaurant, the location and the new release information. The audience is interested to know that.

The original site is a lot to improve, because the whole site seems already outdated. The photos and images are very low quality. They are using deep dark red and black colors for background, the color mood are quite bad. The images are always in square shape and looks like random arrangement, especially in the menu page.

To increase the hit rate, the site should redesign, but still maintain their concept, you are having lunch on THE SHIP.

Client’s Analysis
Background information:
Three decades ago in Malaysia entrepreneurs were understandably hesitant of venturing into the western food restaurant business. They were still trying to wean themselves from the influences of their pre-independence colonial masters and to rediscover their local Asian values.

Nevertheless, there were these young restauranteurs who believed that good food always crosses cultures and prejudices, and appeals to discerning consumers. Mr. Foo Hee Hoon, Mr. Foo Hee Loon and other partners almost single-handedly took on the formidable challenge to start The Ship restaurant (The Ship), opening at Jalan Sultan Ismail what was later to become one of the many more outlets all over Malaysia. Although it wasn't exactly smooth sailing all the way, there was never a doubt that its captain at the helm was steadily steering it towards sure success.

Business target & Aim:
The Ship foresees bright prospects in strengthening and expanding its thriving business, and plans are being carefully made by Mr. Foo and his capable managers to diversify into ventures synergistic with the core business. With the continued loyal support of its many customers, suppliers, management, staffs and friends, The Ship will not only be assured of its own success but will also contribute meaningfully to the success of The Nation's Vision 2020.

Unique Selling point:
- Providing a unique ship environment to customer.
- The Service provided by captains and crews in maritime uniform.
- They serve up a wide variety of the tastiest western food from the choicest and freshest
ingredients.
- The Ship introduced live musical entertainment to its selected outlets, bringing in the
concept of wine, dine and be entertained.

Position & Cultural Value
The Ship has contributed in making Malaysia a popular tourist destination. This, too, is just another indication of The Ship sailing on to greater heights. If imitation is a form of flattery, The Ship must be doing something right, because many others have since followed suit with western restaurants sprouting up everywhere. In the face of growing competition, The Ship not only confidently holds on to its own premier position but has since expanded further with 5 more outlets at strategic locations, and more are being planned. More importantly, each of these outlets has proven a tremendous success story in its own right.

Short & Long-term Site Goals
Another target customer of the ship restaurant is the tourist, so the site is being a important role to promote the restaurant.

For short-term, is to let local people know there are a informative and nice local restaurant site are existed because the original site are not attractive, so will less people would like to enter the site for searching food.

For long-term, any new release promotion should update to the site as soon as possible, but not to provide outdated information. The tourist will get across internet to know more about Malaysia and sure they are searching for the local food and unique restaurant. The attractive site are necessary for a tourist-aiming restaurant.

- Customer candidate aged 21 above.

We knew that the ship restaurant is considering a high consuming place, so the target audience must be the office worker and tourist.

For career part: the male or female candidate aged about 21-30 years.

I drew it when the music is playing. I just followed the frequency of music and whisked my brush. That seems like the wave, going up and down. I feel that quite relax and enjoy to it, because that is an nice oriental feel music. That is a conservational flowing, due to the dark colors. After I complete this piece of artwork and look to it, it like mountain and river, lorong and wall, summer river. I think this is the power of abstract art, we can think it in difference angle following the people emotion.

The flowing of the music, when I drew this piece of artwork, feel that is a heaviness in the music but in the middle it suddenly breakout the bit of happiness and excited. That seems like run away from hell and that is the happiness and hopefulness. Finally, I found out that is a shape like a people is jumping out from the darkness. The blue area seems like the hell. In that moment, the people is very happy but he still have the doubt on himself. Is that a dream?

I drew it, when listen to the music like the water is dripping. The sound is come from a kind of Chinese musical instrument, which called “Yang Qin”. I like that sound, because silvery and make me feel leisure. I feel that this kind of music can help me to depressurize. I began drew dots on the paper, just like the water drip on it, and then fan out. Hope that others people can feel it easy when look at this art.

Story2: White Snake Legend

Once upon a time, a white snake and a green snake who had magical power in the Mountain Er-Mei and had transformed into two beautiful young ladies, on white, one green. They met a man named Hsu Sheng at the West Lake of Hang-Zhou city. The white snake fell in love with Hsu Sheng at first sight. They got married soon after.

The Lady White helped her husband to open an herbal medicine store by writing the prescriptions. Patients unable to pay were given free treatment and medicine. The store quickly became well known and popular. One day a monk called Fa Hai saw the couples and warned Hsu Sheng that his wife was a white snake.

It was during the Dragon Boat Festival, when Chinese families like to decorate with calamus and Chinese mugwort around the house and drink wine to drive away spirits. This was dangerous to Lady White and Lady Green, since they were spirits after all. Lady White was pregnant at that time and her magical power had weakened a lot. She tried to drink wine to please her husband. Unfortunately, she could not control herself and turned into her snake body in her bedroom. Hsu Sheng saw the white snake and was literally scared to death.

In order to save her husband's life, Lady White went to steal the resurrection plant on the Kunlun Mountain. She failed. But her true love won the resurrection plant and the life of Hsu Sheng was restored.

Hsu Sheng remembered Fa Hai and went to the Golden Mountain Temple to see him. Fa Hai suggested Hsu Sheng become a monk to forget his wife. Fa Hai could take care the spirits. Lady White asked a great army of underwater creatures for help and brought forth a flood over the Golden Mountain Temple to fight with Fa Hai. Fa Hai had the magical power too and asked the heavenly soldiers to save his temple. Since the Lady White was pregnant, she was too weak to fight harder, She gave up the battle and waited for the time after giving birth.

Hsu Sheng went to see his son and carried a magical hat from Fa Hai for his son. The magical hat captured the White Snake. Fa Hai imprisoned the White Snake inside the Thunder Pagoda.

The Green Snake was unable to fight Fa Hai alone, escaped and practiced in her magical power even harder. After the son of Lady White grew up. She took revenge by destroying the Thunder Pagoda and rescued White Snake. White Snake reunited with her husband and her son. The story ended here.

Story1: The Princess And The Pea

Once upon time… there was a prince who, after wandering the searching for a wife, returned to his castle and told his unhappy parents that he had been unable to find a bride.

Now, this young man was difficult to please, and he had not been greatly taken with any of the noble young ladies he had met on his travels. He was looking for a bride who was not only beautiful, but also well-born, with the elegance and manners found only in those of noble birth and background.

One evening, during a fierce hurricane that had suddenly blown up, a persistent knocking was heard at the castle door. The prince’s father sent a servant to find out who was there. Standing on the steps, lit by flashes of lightning, in the driving rain, was a young lady, “I’m a princess,” she said, “ Seeking shelter for myself and my page. My carriage has broken down and the coachman can’t repair it till tomorrow.”

In the meantime, the prince’s mother had appeared to welcome the guest. She stared disapprovingly at the girl’s muddy wet garments, and decided to find out if she really was of gentle birth.

“Prepare a soft soft bed in the Blue Room,” she said, “I’ll come myself and make sure everything is in order.” She told the servants to lay a pile of soft quilts on top of the mattress, and under the mattress she hid a pea. Then she showed the girl to her room. The rain beat down all night and lightning streaked the sky. In the morning, the prince’s mother asked her guest: “Did you sleep well? Was the bed comfortable?” The girl politely replied: “It was a lovely soft bed, so soft that I could feel something hard under the mattress. This morning, I discovered it was a pea. It kept me awake all night!” The prince’s mother offered her apologies, before rushing off her son.

“A real princess at last! Just think! She could feel the pea I hid under the mattress! Now, only a well-born lady could do that!”

The prince had finally found the bride of his dreams. After the wedding, the pea was placed inside a gold and crystal box and exhibited in the castle museum.

What is Isometric Pixel Art?

Finding

IPA is consider to a digital art. Every images can edit to pixel level, which is constructing by each same size square. Although the images will become simplistic, it can still express the detail when we see it in small view. The color of pixel art is playing a important role. It can make the pixel image become more detail, more interesting, more realistic. For example, the dark area, the highlight and the shadow.

Where it can be found?
Normally it can be found in old computer and video games, and mobile phone games.

History
The term pixel art was first published by Adele Goldberg and Robert Flegal of Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in 1982.

Some traditional art forms, such as cross-stitch, mosaic and beadwork, bear some similarity to pixel art by constructing pictures out of small colored units same as the pixels of modern digital computing. A similar concept on a much bigger scale can be seen in the mass games.
